The Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula is committed to serving people, changing one life at a time. Our diverse ministries attract various participants and supporters, from single parents needing help to dedicated volunteers seeking meaningful outlets for service to philanthropists and charitable foundations wanting to contribute to their community.
The Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula serves the Hampton, Newport News, York, and Poquoson areas. We also have a Gloucester Service Center that services the Gloucester and Mathews communities. Both Virginia Peninsula Corps locations provide emergency, seasonal, and disaster assistance to individuals, families, and communities in need. The Hampton location also provides worship services, family programs, and onsite activities for men, women, and children.
Last year, over 15,000 unique individuals were assisted here on the Peninsula. 15,000 lives were touched, and many changed because of you! Whether in our emergency assistance programs, our character-building programs for youth, or in the disaster response we offered during this hurricane season, your donations were used to impact so many in need.
Our work is funded through Red Kettle and other seasonal campaigns, corporate and community partnerships, planned giving and legacy donations, individual donations. Eighty-two cents of every dollar The Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula spends supports missions across the area. Local donations are used to support our local communities. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are deductible for Federal Income Tax Purposes to the extent permitted under Section 170(b)(2) for corporations.
